Partnerships

The AIGRS Research & Collaboration Hub is a central platform that connects Australian research excellence with global innovation opportunities.

It brings together universities, industry, government, and international partners in one place to co-design projects, share expertise, and deliver research with real-world impact.

Partnership Process

Our partnership process provides a clear pathway from concept to outcome, making collaboration between universities, industry, and government streamlined and effective.

Funding Identification – Map and secure the most suitable opportunities (ARC, MRFF, NHMRC, CRC, Horizon Europe, and others).

Initial Project Development – Define objectives, scope, and outcomes in consultation with researchers and industry partners.

Team Building – Assemble strong, competitive teams that connect leading academics with industry experts and government stakeholders.

Co-Designed Proposal – Develop a proposal that integrates academic rigour with industry priorities and sets a clear framework for delivery and impact.

IP Agreements – Negotiate intellectual property (IP) terms before the project begins and formalise them in transparent agreements that define the legal and commercial responsibilities of all parties. Ownership is generally based on each party’s contribution, and in grant-funded collaborations (such as ARC or NHMRC), rights must also comply with scheme requirements.

Funding Submission – Work with research offices to ensure efficient, compliant, and competitive submissions.

Project Launch – Once agreements are in place, research is conducted within the facilities of partner universities, industry organisations, or government agencies. AIGRS coordinates delivery, provides regular updates, tracks milestones, and ensures flexibility to refine the approach as needed.

Project Completion – The project is considered complete once all agreed deliverables have been received and approved. A final handover reviews outcomes, addresses questions, and explores opportunities for future collaboration.

How Joint Research Projects Work

At AIGRS, joint research projects are designed to bring universities, industry, and global partners together from the very beginning. We start by identifying priority challenges and co-designing projects that align academic expertise with industry needs.

Our team helps secure competitive funding, formalise partnerships, and recruit Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates who work directly with industry mentors.

This model ensures every project is practical, globally connected, and focused on delivering outcomes that create real value for communities, business, and the economy.
